Elena

"Amuzikanto" is still in the making, but I didn't want to wait until the project was finished to have one particular song out in the world. So, I recorded an acoustic live version that I would like to share with you, as a preview of what's coming in the CD. This song is dedicated to the little girl of my friends Adriana and Juan Pedro; in her first year of life, she's already a source of inspiration and spreads her love everywhere she goes. Elena, Elena

No tiene pena

Elena, Elena

Aun no tiene pena

Todo lo toca

Y con esa boca

Se ríe y llora

Llora y se ríe

Canta con torpe dulzura

Ternura que me cura el alma

-

Algún día aprenderá

De la soledad y el dolor

Pero por ahora sólo toma amor

Y sólo amor da

-

Elena, Elena

Elena me lleva a otro lugar

Elena, Elena

Doesn’t have sadness

Elena, Elena

Doesn’t have any sadness yet

She touches everything

And with her mouth

She laughs and cries

Cries and laughs

She sings with a clumsy sweetness

and a warmth that heals my soul

-

One day she will learn

Of loneliness and pain

But for now, she only takes* love

And only love she gives

-

Elena, Elena

Doesn’t have sadness

She looks and looks at the world

With deep eyes

And when she’s tired of looking

She falls asleep and dreams of another place

And when she’s tired of looking

She falls asleep and dreams of another place

And when she’s tired of looking

She sleeps and goes away

Elena takes me to another place

*In Spanish, "toma" means both "takes" and "drinks"

INTRO

------------------------------

This project is a musical whim of the little girl I still am, just because I want to.

It is also a celebration of all the musical influences that converge in me:

The music of my blood, which tells the history of my ancestors and sings stories of people I’ve never known and places I’ve never been.

The music of my homeland, that tells the stories of those who passed through or stayed for many generations, contributing to the gigantic puzzle that forms the country’s cultural personality.

And there’s also the music of me, telling the tales of my travels and adventures through this life as I come across new friends, strange places, and foreign sounds that, little by little, become a part of me.

Dedicated to those who dream with their eyes open, fly with their feet on the ground, and wonder “what if…”
